Hon. Kolawole Lawal , Memeber of House of Representatives, presents education grant to students of tertiary institutions.

It’s with great pleasure and special thanks to the Almighty God, that l am here today to be part of this event which is the presentation of grants to over 600 students in our constituency selected from various tertiary institutions nationwide

This is In fulfillment of my commitment to the growth of the education sector in our constituency.

Today, each beneficiary of the education support grant will receive between One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) and Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000) depending on the level and course of study. This will bring the total value of the grant to about N100 million.

Although this program iIs facilitated by me, l must commend our developmental partners, Small & Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and Microvis Microfinance Bank. The two great institutions deserve our commendation for accepting to be part of this history making initiative.

I want to make it clear to everyone that, the selection process of these beneficiaries were rigorous, painstaking, fair and objective strictly based on the quality of initiatives presented by them. But l want assure that those who were not selected for this first batch will be considered for selection in subsequent batches

Specifically, the grant was initiated and facilitated by me to assist beneficiaries with innovative and brilliant ideas capable of making positive impact within and outside the constituency to accomplish their goals. But in addition to that, It will also go a long way to assist them to realize their ambition to acquire good education to effectively position themselves for a better future and compete favourably with their counterparts in other parts of the state and Nigeria in general.

Ladies and gentlemen, you will all agree with me that irrespective of the current challenges in the sector, education stills forms the nucleus of our achievement in life. Having the right education will increase chances for better career opportunities and open up new doors.

I will, therefore, advised the beneficiaries to rise above the challenges of inadequate funding, dilapidated infrastructure, poor teaching aids, exorbitant school fees among others in the education sector and remain focused on their goals for guaranteed future.

This is the best time for you all to begin to challenge yourselves by setting achievable target/goals and remain committed to them irrespective of the challenges you may face along the way.

Your ability to demonstrate commitment and remain focused will be instrumental to your success and your career advancement as you strive to become agents of change.

Technology has become part of our daily life. To remain relevant, you must become more technologically inclined. You must begin to see how you can be part of this technology revolution by coming up with innovative ideas that can make meaningful impact and put Nigeria on the global map.

Education is good. Getting a desired job after graduation is also very good. However, you must all begin to see the need to develop entrepreneurial skills to become your own boss especially where there are challenges securing a job immediately after graduation. Even when you are employed, you can also run your business side by side inasmuchas it’s not in competition with your main job.

To the ladies in your midsts, acquiring the right education will promote gender equality especially at the work place where you meet the basic job qualifications just as your male counterparts

While l urge you all to continue to live a useful and responsible life as you all prepare for the ‘real world’ l want to advise that you all use the grant presented to you today strictly for the purpose it was given to encourage me to do more.

As the nation prepares for another rounds of elections come 2023, l want to appeal that we all vote wisely for candidates based on performance and credibility.

l want to assure you that what l have done in the last three and a half years will be a tip of the iceberg compared to what l have mapped out to achieve during my second term in office if I am mandated, by the Grace of God, to represent you, the good people of this Constituency again.

I will continue to match my words with action and remain accountable to all of you. Most of you here are already aware that the fourth pillar of my AHEAD Campaign mantra and by extension our schematic campaign manifesto is accountability which is a major principle of good governance, and a direct precursor of development.

Thank you
HON. KOLAWOLE LAWAL MOBOLORUNDURO (KLM)
